This particular bike came with either a rectifier and regulator or a regulator rectifier. If your bike came with a separate rectifier and regulator, then you need this combined unit designed to replace both parts. (You will also have 3 yellow wires coming from your stator and a field coil - not an outer flywheel).
If your bike came with a 4 wire regulator rectifier (3 wires in a connector and one white/red wire on the side, then you need part# R600)
-1977-1979 KZ650B See part # ( This part has 2 yellow wires coming from the stator. It is best to check because to make sure nothing was changed on this older bike )

If your KZ650 has an independent regulator and rectifier and has three yellow wires coming from the stator than this is the correct part. This one unit replaces both the regulator and rectifier.
